Speyside Whisky Tour

In 1824, The Glenlivet became Speyside’s first licensed distillery, so it seems fitting to make this the first stop of the day. A tour of the distillery is followed by a dram with which to toast the founder, George Smith.

A short drive along the Spey Valley brings us to Aberlour, where lunch awaits us at the Mash Tun, where the whisky bar has a superb selection of whiskies to sample along with good food.

The next visit is to the Speyside Cooperage to see master coopers at work making the oak casks in which, by law, whisky must be stored for at least 3 years and one day.

Finally it’s on to the Glenfiddich distillery for another tour and tasting before returning to our starting point.

This tour can be adapted to include Speyside distilleries of your choice (provided they are open to the public.)
